The winners announcement and award ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the Auditorium in Piazza della Libertà, Bergamo (or another suitable venue). Should there be still, on the appointed date, containment measures due to the Covid-19 emergency, the award ceremony and the screening of the finalist films will be broadcast online, on a dedicated streaming platform.

«The third edition of the Ermanno Olmi Prize testifies the pivotal role of culture in the recovery process, where is paramount to address pressing issues such as the centrality of young people. The prize represents an opportunity to offer them a stage to showcase their creativity after a terrible lockdown that has inevitably crushed all the opportunities for visibility. A special mention will be granted to short films particularly effective in portraying the relationship between humankind and nature, as well as the human interactions with landscape and environment, both issues very dear to Maestro Olmi. Consistently, the Ermanno Olmi Prize earned the Greenfest certification, granted to cultural events that meet the criteria for environmental sustainability established by the European Union. Finally, the Prize brings to Bergamo different perspectives from the many parts of the world from where the many participants come and is therefore an initiative of truly international scope».

Nadia Ghisalberti, Councillor for Culture of the municipality of Bergamo

The Ermanno Olmi Prize is promoted by the Municipality of Bergamo with the support of FIC – Federazione Italiana Cineforum and in collaboration with Bergamo Film Meeting Onlus.

In accord with the Minimum Environmental Criteria – parameters of environmental sustainability for cultural events – signed by the Municipality of Bergamo, the Prize takes part to the experimental European Green Fest project: a commitment to both environment and culture, and a fitting tribute to Ermanno Olmi who, through his works, was always a keen supporter of environmental preservation.
